David Liddington supports CAMRA's aims of reversing the decline of the pub.

Received from Mr Liddington:
Dear Mr Wright,
Thank you for your email.
I agree strongly with CAMRA's aim of reversing the decline of the traditional English pub and agree with much of the charter, though I would want to be sure of the detail of what was being proposed before signing up to pledges about taxation and the beer tie.
My Party has put forward a range of policies designed to help publicans, public houses and responsible drinkers. With the Conservatives the taxation of alcohol will target binge drinking through increased duty on super-strength lagers and alcopops, whilst ensuring that responsible drinkers and the traditional British pub are not unfairly penalised. We will give local authorities new powers to offer local business rate discounts to support local shops, pubs and community facilities and we will ban supermarkets from selling alcohol at below cost-price.
Yours sincerely,
David Lidington
